Timmy McCarthy and Dan Oglevee have weathered the highs of successful exits and navigated the personal and financial challenges of business failures. Unreserved in sharing their experiences—the "Good," the "Bad," and the "Ugly"—they bring a wealth of insights from a front row seat to building companies within a plethora of industries.
And it all originated in the classroom.
Dan becomes a Senior Lecturer teaching a variety of classes at The Ohio State University, Fisher College of Business including: Venture Capital, Entrepreneurial Finance and Excel Modeling.
Timmy and his father (“Old Tim”) begin guest lecturing in each of Dan’s Entrepreneurial Finance classes, as the closing speaker(s), for both undergraduate students and MBA’s.
Timmy builds his business up to 44 locations, and in his spare time, he expands his guest lectures to other colleges and universities.
Timmy takes Dan’s class as an Executive MBA student, which opens his eyes to the transition moment his fellow classmates face: The same dilemma that most face when contemplating the safety they reside in vs the enticing aspects (yet riskiness) of Business Ownership. The draw yet the fear… He realizes that even though these students want to become business owners, not every person wants 10x growth.

Drawing from their combined 55 years of experience, they've curated a library of modules to distill essential lessons from the “noise”.
Timmy is a seasoned serial entrepreneur and advocate for social change. With nearly two decades of experience as a business owner, his journey includes the founding, development and eventual sale of RCO Limited, the Ohio Franchise Partner of Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers. Under Timmy’s stewardship, RCO Limited grew to 44 Cane’s restaurants and earned the distinction of being the largest franchise organization within the Raising Cane’s system. In 2021, Timmy successfully sold the restaurants to Cane's, marking a significant milestone in his business ownership career. Timmy lives in Worthington, OH, and guest lectures regularly at both The Ohio State University, his MBA alma mater, and Wittenberg University, his undergrad alma mater.
Dan Oglevee, a senior lecturer in finance at The Ohio State University, Fisher College of Business, has been teaching for over 23 years, impacting thousands of students and earning numerous teaching awards. Drawing from his 9 years of experience on Wall Street, 3 years in venture capital, 12 years as a business owner and 35 years as an angel investor, Dan has played a pivotal role in educating, mentoring and coaching aspiring entrepreneurs, business owners, and students pursuing careers in business and finance. Former students have achieved significant exits as entrepreneurs or have gone on to hold impressive executive roles at leading investment banks, showcasing the profound impact of his teachings, mentorship and coaching.
